Where windows are basically sound, we offer a comprehensive refurbishment service as an alternative to replacement, including:
- Replacement of sash cords and parting beads;
- Insertion of draught-proofing;
- Any filling, planing and re-weighting required to make the window snug and rattle-free.
We price all our work individually and provide written quotations and surveys entirely free of charge and obligation.
As a guide, renovation of a single window generally ranges from £250+VAT to £350+VAT per window (VAT applies at a reduced rate of 5% to refurbishment works).
Our approach to renovation
At The Original Double Glazed Ltd, we are dedicated to doing absolutely the best job possible.
We generally recommend replacing the entire window, including its box, rather than doing a partial replacement as some companies suggest. But if the windows are basically sound, we advise minimal intervention, ie overhauling and draught-proofing to prevent further deterioration.
We believe that the compromise solutions offered by some companies (eg simply patching rot, or putting new frames into existing boxes) represent a false economy as they are in fact quite costly and do not achieve satisfactory and durable results.
